Anthropic Launches Claude Haiku 5.5 at Roughly 75% Below Its Predecessor's Price

The small model adds a 1-million-token context window and adjustable effort, while Sonnet 5.5 cache reads get cheaper.

Anthropic on Tuesday released Claude Haiku 5.5, the newest version of its fastest and least expensive model family, with pricing the company says averages about 75% below Claude Haiku 4.5.

Pricing

For requests under 100,000 tokens, Haiku 5.5 costs:

  • $0.10 per million input tokens
  • $0.50 per million output tokens

What's new

  • Adjustable effort, letting developers trade speed for deeper reasoning
  • A 1-million-token context window
  • Higher scores on computer-use and agent benchmarks

Anthropic also halved cache-read prices for Claude Sonnet 5.5 and began issuing monthly API credits to Max and Team subscribers.

Context

The release follows Anthropic's September launch of Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1, the latter available only through trusted-access programs, and Claude Sonnet 5.5 later that month. The company's compute expansion is also drawing heavy financing: the Financial Times reported that Bank of America, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley are syndicating a roughly $60 billion package tied to it.

The Information separately reported that Microsoft and Meta are reducing internal use of Claude in favor of their own tools, though customer spending on Anthropic models through Microsoft continues to grow.
