TSMC September Revenue Jumps 54.6% as AI Chip Demand Holds Strong

Year-to-date sales are up 41% as the world's largest contract chipmaker heads into Q3 earnings.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. reported September revenue of NT$511.86 billion, up 54.6% from a year earlier, extending a run of strong results driven by demand for AI accelerators.

The numbers

  • September revenue: NT$511.86 billion, up 54.6% year over year
  • Month over month: down 0.6% from August
  • January to September: NT$3.90 trillion, up 41.1% year over year

The slight dip from August is in line with normal monthly variation in TSMC's shipments and does not change the broader trend.

Capacity deals keep coming

TSMC also struck a five-year agreement this week with GlobalFoundries, which will produce silicon interposers for TSMC at its Malta, New York, fab. Interposers are a key component of the advanced packaging used in AI accelerators from Nvidia and AMD, and that packaging has been one of the tightest bottlenecks in the supply chain.

Meanwhile AMD CEO Lisa Su, visiting Taiwan, said AMD plans to substantially increase chip supply in 2027.

TSMC is scheduled to report full third-quarter results in mid-October.
