Apple Reportedly Planning October 13 Launch for Smart Home Hub, HomePod mini and Apple TV

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says a home-focused announcement is coming next week, with Macs possibly following late in the month.

Apple is preparing to unveil new smart home products on October 13, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, with a second wave of launches reportedly planned for the final week of October. Apple has not confirmed either date.

What's expected next week

According to reports from Bloomberg, MacRumors and 9to5Mac, the first wave centers on the home:

  • A smart home hub with an all-display, iPad-like design. Reports differ on screen size, citing both a 6-inch square and a 7-inch panel.
  • A new HomePod mini with an updated S-series chip, support for Apple's AI-powered Siri, and new colors including pink and green.
  • An updated Apple TV 4K with Apple's N1 wireless chip and a faster A19-class processor, without design changes.

Gurman left open whether Apple will hold a full event or announce the products through videos and press releases, as it has done for past fall updates.

A second wave for the Mac

MacRumors, citing multiple sources, reports a further round of announcements in late October. Reports point to M6-powered Macs, including an updated iMac and a touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro, along with an OLED iPad mini, though Bloomberg has said the MacBook Pro could slip to November.

The launches would round out a busy fall for Apple, which introduced its folding iPhone Duo in September.
