Anthropic Files for IPO, Reporting $16.3 Billion in First-Half Revenue

The filing, reported by TechCrunch, shows an $80.7 billion net loss driven largely by noncash charges and a governance structure that gives seven co-founders 50.1% of the vote.

Anthropic has officially filed for an initial public offering, TechCrunch reported on Monday, October 26, following weeks of leaked versions of its S-1 registration statement. According to the report, the company plans to list under the ticker "ANT."

What the filing shows

The numbers TechCrunch cited from the filing cover the first half of 2026:

  • Revenue: $16.3 billion, up from $1.2 billion in the same period of 2025.
  • Operating loss: $693 million, down from $2.1 billion a year earlier.
  • Net loss: $80.7 billion, which the report attributes largely to noncash accounting adjustments tied to convertible debt.

The filing also warns that Anthropic "may not achieve or sustain profitability in the future," according to the report.

Enterprise customers

As of the end of September 2026, Anthropic told investors it had:

  • more than 11,900 customers spending $100,000 or more a year;
  • 1,900 spending $1 million or more;
  • about 250 spending $10 million or more.

Governance

Seven co-founders, Dario Amodei, Daniela Amodei, Tom Brown, Jack Clark, Jared Kaplan, Sam McCandlish and Christopher Olah, will hold their shares through a "Founder LLC" that would control 50.1% of shareholder voting power. The Long-Term Benefit Trust, which Anthropic set up in 2023, would keep the authority to appoint most of the board.

What is not yet known

The TechCrunch report did not say how much Anthropic hopes to raise, the proposed share price, the valuation, the share count or which banks will underwrite the offering, and it did not name the exchange. Those details typically appear in later amendments to a registration statement.

Context

Earlier coverage on this site reported, citing sources, that Anthropic had told investors its third-quarter revenue was $16.8 billion. The figures in the registration statement are for the first six months of the year and are not directly comparable to that report.

A listing would make Anthropic one of the most prominent AI developers to go public, alongside a market where rival OpenAI has been reported to be raising private capital at a valuation above $1 trillion. Readers should treat the figures above as those reported from the filing; the full document is available through the SEC's EDGAR system.
